Residence Permit
Persons who have purchased property in Cyprus and are
retiring there can apply for a Residence Permit. The
granting of this permit is based on acquiring property and
upon the living level of foreign income available to support
oneself, this includes pensions and income from investments
or otherwise. At present an annual income of CYŁ12,000 is
considered satisfactory for a retired couple.
To obtain a Cypriot Passport, a written application must
be submitted to the Immigration Department. Each case is
looked individually. Successful applications are usually the
ones made by:
(a) Foreigners married for over five years with persons of
Cypriot origin.
(b) People residing in Cyprus that have totalled 10 years of
stay on the island within a 13 year period.
